JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Following a nearly three-month impasse, Baptist Health today announced it has a reached a multi-year agreement to continue a partnership with insurer Cigna.
As a result, effective immediately, Cigna member can resume receiving covered services from Baptist Health locations and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
“Thank you for your patience, understanding and support throughout this process,” a post on Baptist’s website read on Wednesday. “Our commitment has always been to ensure patients have access to the high-quality care they need, and we are grateful to move forward with a resolution that restores access to care across our health system.”
The contract between Baptist and Cigna expired in late June. During that time, only emergency care, under federal law, and “continuity of care” treatments were covered at “in-network” rates. All other services will billed as out-of-network.
In its post, Baptist advised patients who postponed or canceled care during the out-of-network period to contact providers office to reschedule needed appointments, test or procedures.
“We appreciate the many patients and families who shared their experiences and voiced their support throughout this process,” Baptist officials said.
