JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Blue Angels have landed in Jacksonville.
The elite navy group was grounded last year because of sequestration. However, they're fully funded and back in action for 2014.
“Our mission is to inspire a culture of excellence and also service the country. We just want to inspire people, maybe it’s to fly, maybe not to fly." said Dave Tickle, Blue Angels Operations Officer. "Make yourself proud, make your country proud of you. We want to inspire folks to achieve goals and do well.
The Blue Angels are slated to perform a total of 65 shows this year. The group performs in Jacksonville at the NAS JAX Air Show this weekend, October 25 and 26.
"We’ll fly as low as 125 mphs fast as 700 mph, all the way to -3 g’s to positive 7.5 g’s so the full spectrum of what the aircraft is capable of doing," said Tickle.
WHAT'S PERMITTED/PROHIBITED:
Everyone entering the Air Show must pass through walk-through metal detectors and scanner checkpoints at the pedestrian gate.
Vehicles will be inspected upon entry to the Naval Air Station. Vehicles planning to drop people off and depart should do so at the Ajax & Albermale gate, Building 135 parking area.
