NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that skeletal remains found Tuesday in Fernandina Beach are human.
Workers dug up the bones at a construction site on Bonnieview Road and it appears the bones had been at the location for a “long period of time.”
NCSO said the medical examiner made the determination and the bones, which are believed to be “very old,” will be analyzed by an anthropologist with Florida Gulf Coast University.
NCSO said the FGCU anthropologist will help them determine who died, how they died and how long they have been dead.
