A woman in her mid-30s was walking in the road on Soutel Drive around 8:40 pm Monday when she was struck by a car then an SUV.

According to JSO, that impact then threw the woman into the outside lane where a white, possibly 4-door vehicle ran her over. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene northbound.

The other drivers stayed on scene, and JSO said there were no indicators of impairment.

Anyone with information about the hit and run vehicle or driver is urged to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or contact First Coast Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.

This is the 43rd traffic fatality in Duval County and the 12th involving a pedestrian.
