Robert Hicks

A Southeast Georgia man was sentenced Friday to two life sentences after being convicted of sexually assaulting two children in Glynn County.

Robert Hicks, 37, of Brunswick, was convicted of kidnapping, child molestation, rape and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, according to a release from District Attorney Jackie Johnson.

Hicks molested two girls, one in 2012 and one in 2014, the release detailed.

One of the girls testified that Hicks, a registered sex offender, raped her as part of a gang initiation.

Hicks “admitted to being a high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples” according to the release, and during the trial, a pattern of sexual abuse by Hicks over a 20-year period was established.

Hicks was also sentenced to a 45-year prison term, which will run concurrent with his two life sentences.
