Burglars broke into at least seven cars in Jacksonville's Sandalwood area early Saturday morning, neighbors said.
French Simangan said he’s considering security cameras after his car was broken into while parked outside his home on Wattle Tree Road.
“We have a baby inside so something like that in the neighborhood really is one of those things that we don’t take it for granted," he said. "Now maybe putting a security camera outside the house might be a good option.”
Simangan said his car was a mess but nothing was stolen.
Other neighbors who experienced the string of car break ins weren’t as lucky.
“They took my lifeguard pack and they took like sentimental things,” Zachary Groff said.
Neighbors said this isn’t the first time they’ve seen break ins in the area.
Benjamin Whitefield said he's been a victim several times.
“It’s happened about 2 or 3 times," he said. "It happened like a month ago, and then before that, it happened like 2 or 3 months ago. It’s not just me. They hit all my neighbors up and down this street.”
Whitfield and many others on the street said they already bought security cameras.
Surveillance footage of three people walking down the street was captured by one of those cameras early Saturday morning.
“It’s a big concern because this is a nice neighborhood," Whitefield said.
