Cars burglarized at Jacksonville apartment complex

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of car break-ins at a Southside apartment complex.
The burglaries happened overnight at Citigate apartments on Gate Parkway.
“It’s kind of awful to get a knock on the door at 8 a.m. by a police officer,” said Ryan Sobolewksi as JSO searched his car for evidence.
Sobolewski says that’s what woke him up this morning.
“Last night - I was kicking myself - because before I went to bed I thought, ‘Did I lock my door?’, before I went up for the night,” said Sobolewski.
Turns out, he didn’t and now his car is one of more than a dozen that were burglarized..
Sobolewski told Action News Jax nothing valuable was taken, but it could have been much worse.
“I could have had to replace the windows, worry about an insurance claim,” said Sobolewski.
He and other residents say the complex’s front gate breaks frequently, making the apartments an easy target.
“It’s usually closed at night. We’ve had a couple problems where people have broken it or hit it or something,” said Jonah Kozlowski
Officers are reminding everyone to make sure their car is locked and secured every night  to prevent break ins
