A resident told Action News Jax that a 42-year-old woman and her baby were hit by a car at the intersection of Crill and Husson avenues. They were taken to a hospital in Gainesville and sustained minor injuries, police said.
Marsha Willis told Action News Jax that she works at a business at the intersection. Willis said the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. because she just sat down for work. She said she was the one who called 911 as soon as she heard screaming.
"I looked out the door and saw the lady on the road and the baby carriage tipped over and I heard the child and the mother screaming," Willis said.
Willis provided information on the suspect and the car's description.
She said it's a dangerous place to try and cross.
"A lot of people go too fast through here," Willis said.
She said this isn't the first crash she's seen, but it's the one that will stick out in her memory.
"It's a real busy one. I've been here four years and saw a couple pretty bad, but this one really scared me," Willis said.
