The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team has declared a First Alert Weather Day due to heavy rain and storms in our area.
This alert is in effect Sunday for Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida.
- Scattered heavy afternoon and evening storms are expected for Sunday. Today will not be a washout, but some neighborhoods could be very wet later today.
- Storm hazards include very heavy rain, frequent lightning, and later in the day, strong wind gusts.
- Localized flooding is possible wherever heavy storms do occur.
- With many folks outside for the Labor Day holiday, stay weather-aware and head indoors when storms approach.
- Storms could linger past sunset, especially in Georgia.
- This morning is warm, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s and some isolated showers.
- Today will be hot and humid with afternoon highs rising into the 90s before more rain develops.
- A slow-moving front will keep rain chances elevated for Labor Day tomorrow, with rounds of rain and a few storms.
