CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Clay County District Schools and Sheriff Michelle Cook announced detectives are investigating an incident that allegedly occurred at Ridgeview High School’s homecoming Saturday night.
A spokesperson from Clay County District Schools sent Action News Jax the following statement regarding posts circulating online Sunday morning alleging that drinks were spiked at the school’s dance:
“Regarding reports and social media rumors suggesting that drinks were spiked or laced during last night’s Homecoming dance at Ridgeview High School, school administration and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office currently have no evidence of drink tampering or related safety incidents. However, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating these reports.
As part of our standard safety protocols, all students were searched prior to entry, large bags were prohibited with only small clutch-type purses allowed, and no outside food or beverages were permitted into the venue. The only concessions sold on site were sealed bottled water, pizza, and Pelican’s SnoBalls.
During the evening, EMS was called out of an abundance of caution for a student who experienced an isolated personal medical issue. School administration has been in communication with the student’s family, and due to student privacy laws, no further details regarding the student will be released.

Sunday afternoon, Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook posted the following statement on Facebook:
“There is no indication/evidence there was a fentanyl overdose/use. Detectives are talking with the kids to see if they maybe had gummies or caffeine pills.”
Cook added that the sheriff’s office will release an official update after “everyone is interviewed” and promised that they would “get to the bottom of it.”
