CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Applications are now open for the Student Service Challenge, a program offering high school students the opportunity to earn $500 toward their educational goals. Applications opened Thursday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m.
The challenge is a joint effort between Clay County District Schools, the Clay Education Foundation, the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Lottery. The initiative is designed to help high school students develop leadership skills, give back to their local community and support their post-secondary education.
To qualify for the $500 reward toward their educational goals, accepted students must complete 20 or more new hours of community service. Participants are also required to submit an essay focused on civic responsibility and leadership.
Space in the program is limited, and program organizers encourage eligible students to complete their online applications promptly.
Applications for the program close Monday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m. Accepted students will be notified on Sept. 1.
