MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — Deputies now have a man wanted on drug charges in custody.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon asked the public to avoid the McDonald’s at 2485 Blanding Boulevard in Middleburg as they worked to get the man into custody in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Deputies sent an alert through the SaferWatch app about the incident, saying that McDonald’s employees were to shelter in place until the situation is resolved.
The man wouldn’t get out of the car at first, CCSO said. Deputies surrounded the car and he eventually got out.
Police activity in the area slowed traffic on Blanding between Palmetto Street and Everett Avenue.
