Man out on bond for vehicular homicide charge died of ‘multiple drug toxicity,’ autopsy shows

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The cause of death has been revealed for a man who died while being out of jail on bond for a vehicular homicide charge.

Action News Jax previously told you that Clifford Ringer, 41, died on Jan. 27. He was charged with vehicular homicide in the April 2022 death of 23-year-old Gavin Conroy.

Ringer’s cause of death was “multiple drug toxicity,” according to an autopsy report from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Cocaine, methadone, methamphetamine, fentanyl and alprazolam (which is also branded as Xanax) were among the drugs found in Ringer’s system, the report said.

Ringer’s manner of death was listed in the Medical Examiner’s report as accidental.

At the time of the fiery crash that killed Conroy, Ringer was driving with a suspended license.

Conroy was in the ICU for four months then passed away.
