CMG’s Care-A-Thon for families fighting childhood cancer surpasses $300K

Money from 12th annual event will stay with families in Jacksonville to help with household expenses, care

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Cox Media Group, the parent company of Action News Jax and radio partner 104.5 WOKV, concluded its annual Care-a-Thon event Saturday - raising $309,713 to help families fighting childhood cancer.

The 12th annual Care-A-Thon took place Friday and Saturday, with volunteers manning phones at the CMG studios on the Southside to take donations for the Child Cancer Fund.

Every dollar raised will stay with families in Jacksonville for household expenses such as gas families use to get to treatment.
