COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — If you’re looking for something fun to do outdoors, you’re in luck. Rum Island Park in Columbia County will reopen Monday, Aug. 31 at sunrise. The park gives access to the Santa Fe River for fishing, paddling, swimming and picnicking.
Officials say there will be new entry fees put in place in the coming weeks. Columbia County residents may buy an annual pass for $25. It’s $60 for nonresidents.
“I am excited to see the park reopen after its long closure,” said Rocky Ford, District 2 County Commissioner. “We hope everyone can enjoy the rest of (the) summer at this spring.”
The Board of County Commissioners say the park has undergone a $300,000 riverbank restoration project.
The park will have a grand reopening ribbon cutting on Sept. 22 at 9 a.m.
