JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Comedian Kristin Key will be making a stop in the Bold City. The comic will be at the Terry Theater on November 19 as part of her “Ca-Caw Tour.” I got the chance to chat with Key ahead of her upcoming show to talk about several topics, including how paramedic training turned into a comedy career, her comedic evolution, and her time on Last Comic Standing.
Key was training to be a paramedic; however, after seeing two people die, she decided to change her profession. “I don’t think I would have been a very, very good paramedic,” reflects Key. “I would say because I’m rarely on time, and I think it’s funny when people get hurt, and I get a little squeamish around blood. So with those three things combined, it would make for a very strange ambulance visit.” Key adds that in that same week, she dropped out of school, quit her job, and started working at a comedy club. “I dropped everything and said, ‘I’ll go work at a comedy club.’”
