JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are searching for a couple accused of stealing a boat from an Arlington business Tuesday.

Buddy Haskell, owner of Haskell Marine, said he saw that couple driving away with the boat, so he and his employees followed and caught up with the thieves over a mile away.

At Art Museum Drive and Atlantic Boulevard, the boat came loose and fell onto a nearby car. Haskell said the couple tried to get away by going the wrong way down Atlantic Boulevard, then jumped a curb, knocking the boat over.

"It was just stupid. There's nothing worth stealing to kill somebody over," Haskell said. "It's just a shame that people go to work everyday and put a hard day in to make a living and somebody comes to steal your stuff. It's just wrong and these police officers in this town, they are sure looking for them."

The truck the couple was driving was later found abandoned with a blown tire about 2 miles away in a St. Nicholas neighborhood. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said both the truck and the license plate attached to it were stolen. The suspects have not yet been identified.
