DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Crews repaired a hole in the roadway on the Overland Bridge early Friday morning.

The 1-foot hole opened up Thursday and was repaired at 2:20 a.m.

The hole was in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 just before the Acosta and Main Street Bridge split.

It is in the same area where a hole opened up about a year ago.

The Florida Department of Transportation said there is no specific cause identified for the hole, but sometimes small areas may have a little concrete get loose and pop up due to the ongoing traffic volume and vibration.

FDOT said the structure is safe and is inspected regularly by the construction team as well as FDOT maintenance teams.
