Crown Point Elementary School placed on Code Yellow lockdown for 20 minutes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Crown Point Elementary School was placed on a "Code Yellow" lockdown on Tuesday afternoon due to police pursuit of a suspect went through campus. A Code Yellow lockdown means students and staff are "limited to essential movement only."

Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers were chasing a suspect who ran through a portion of campus and jumped a fence, according to Duval County Public Schools spokesperson Mark Sherwood.

JSO spokesperson Melissa Bujeda said the original call to the area was a residential burglary call. An officer found the suspects' vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Two of the suspects were apprehended while one suspect fled on foot.

The suspect was tracked and located by a K9 officer, Bujeda said.

Students were held right before dismissal for about 20 minutes, Sherwood said.
