Day care with ties to Putnam County woman under investigation changes ownership

Action News Jax is learning new details about an investigation into an alleged adoption scheme.

A local day care, owned by a Putnam County woman at the center of two state investigations, has changed hands.

The Florida Department of Children and Families tells us The Children’s Academy of Interlachen, owned by Tina Scee, is changing locations and becoming Children’s Connection Service Center.

Both DCF and FDLE are investigating Scee in an alleged adoption scheme.

Last month we told you about an Ohio couple who said Scee tricked them into thinking she was a DCF employee who could facilitate adoptions, while she collected payments from the state.

The couple says she allowed a 3-year old boy to move up to Ohio with them, even while he was still in Florida’s foster care system.

A document, called a temporary guardianship agreement is notarized by a woman named April Reed.

Action News Jax has learned Reed has connections to Scee’s day care.

In fact, she is listed as the registered agent for Children’s Connection Service Center.

Tim Anda has been in Florida for months fighting to get Dylan back.

“It looks like it’s much more of a scam than it originally seemed like,” Anda told Action News Jax on Monday.

Action News Jax went to Reed’s home to ask about her ties to Tina Scee. No one was there or at the newly renamed daycare when we stopped by.

Calls to both Reed and Scee were not returned.
