Death of former The Bolles School swimmer under investigation in U.S. Virgin Islands

Jamie Cail, a former U.S. swimming champion was found dead in her home in the island of St. John.

According to U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department, her boyfriend came home from the bar around midnight when he found her on the floor.

The boyfriend and her friends took her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

CNN reports the cause of death has not yet been released.

Cail won a silver medal in November 1998 at the FINA Swimming World Cup in Brazil in the women’s 800 meter freestyle.

As a teenager, Cail spent some time at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida, a private college-preparatory school. Bolles released the following statement about Cail:

“The Bolles School community is saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Jamie Cail ‘99, an accomplished swimmer and dear friend to many Bulldogs who knew her during her time at the School from 1995-96 and part of the fall in 1997. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this immensely difficult time.”
