STARKE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman who was a corrections sergeant at Florida State Prison at Raiford is charged with working with an inmate she was romantically involved with to sell drugs inside the prison.
Rachel M. Black, 38, is charged with conspiracy to introduce contraband into a prison after investigators found evidence she sold cannabis and narcotics, according to an arrest affidavit.
Authorities said an inmate told them Black was having a romantic relationship with an inmate who helped her set up drug sales. That included a sale to another inmate, whose girlfriend would make an $1,800 payment to Black for cannabis and meth.
The investigators source was an inmate whom Black’s inmate boyfriend approached as a possible client.
Black acknowledged that her alleged inmate boyfriend asked her to bring in drugs, but it was “paper dope -” such as LSD - she had placed repackaged in a mop closet for inmates to retrieve.
