NEW YORK — A former Yulee high School football star was awarded the highest individual honor in collegiate sports under the lights of broadway.
University of Alabama running back Derrick Henry won the 2015 Heisman Trophy at a presentation in New York City Saturday night.
Henry broke Herschel Walker's single-season rushing record by an SEC player this season. Walker held the record until this year by rushing for 1,891 yards in the 1981 season.
Henry finished the regular season with 1,986 yards after rushing for 189 yards on 44 carries against the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship game.
Henry still has at least one, possibly two, games remaining to add to his record-setting numbers.
