Gregory Cove Apartment complex barricade situation ends after seven hours

Jacksonville, Fl — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office surrounded the Gregory Cove Apartments in the University Park area following reports of gunfire in an apartment on the second floor.

Police responded at around 3:00am to the scene and were faced with a man with a gun.

Sargeant Karen Dukes of The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reports the SWAT team was called in and dogs were used to subdue the suspect, a male in his 20′s with a history of drug abuse. 2 weapons and ammunition were found in the home.

The suspect is currently in the hospital being treated for dog bites. He was arrested for shooting into unoccupied vehicles. No one else was injured in the incident.
