DIA discusses new paid parking program for Downtown, Riverside, and San Marco

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville's Downtown Investment Authority discussed several policy changes that would change parking operations for a growing Downtown, Riverside and San Marco.

Last month, Action News Jax reported that the DIA received a new proposal from Elite Parking Services of America to take over parking operations for these areas. It was submitted by the company's president, Dane Grey, who is also a former DIA board member.

The proposal would implement new paid parking, upgraded equipment and new services. Find more here.

After more than a month of review, the DIA met for a strategic implementation committee to discuss the proposal. CEO Lori Boyer introduced several current policies that needed reviewing by the board.

"The question to be decided is do we open it up on the terms that were in the Elite proposal or do we set our own terms?" Boyer said. "There were so many challenges with specific terms in the Elite proposal that I think the board recognizes we have to set our own terms and whoever responds to that will respond."

By the end of the meeting, the board voted to table the discussion until they can further review current parking operations.
