JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One in 6 people in Duval County are going hungry this holiday season, but there is a major new effort today to give them help.
An egg company is giving away thousands of eggs it can't sell in stores. They taste the same, but there's one key difference.
The owner of the Dixie Egg Company said all the eggs taste just the same, but these eggs are super jumbo eggs, so they are bigger and there isn't a market for them. Now, the eggs are being given to those who can't afford their own meal right now.

Bruce Ganger, the CEO of Feeding Northeast Florida, spends his days picking up surplus food from manufacturers to feed Floridians in need.
"In Duval County, 1 out of 6 folks don't know if, how, when they will get their next meal. That number rises to 1 out of 4 when it's children," said Ganger.
On Monday, Dixie Egg Company made his job a whole lot easier when it dropped off 350,000 super jumbo eggs
"These eggs are super jumbo, so we have a surplus of them so it made sense to donate them," said Jacques Klempf, owner of Dixie Egg Company.
Ganger said he estimates these eggs will give at least 175,000 Floridians a protein-packed meal
The 350,000 eggs will be shipped out to local food pantries over the next two weeks.
