Duval County reports highest single-day positive testing rate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County’s positive single-day testing rate is now at 20.9 percent, the highest it’s been since the pandemic began in March, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The positive single-day testing rate has also increased in Clay County to 20 percent, Nassau County to 11.7 percent, and St. Johns County at 15.6 percent. Only Baker County’s positive single-day testing percentage has decreased.

In the Thursday COVID-19 daily report, Florida added 8,935 new cases and is now reporting 120 new deaths related to the coronavirus. The death toll in Florida is at 4,009 people.

Four of the new deaths occurred in Duval County. The deaths include a 93-year-old man, a 78-year-old man, a 75-year-old woman, and a 76-year-old woman. This brings Duval County’s death toll to 74 people.

The local metro area death toll now stands at 123.

Duval County also added 589 new cases. St. Johns County added 115, there were 96 positive tests in Clay County, 30 in Nassau County, and seven in Baker County.
