The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. According to the report, witnesses saw the suspect, who is in their late teens to early 20′s, fire towards at least three men running to the back of the gas station. The suspect was next to his car at one of the pumps.

“I saw them running for their lives across the parking lot. Running right in front of me. One of them actually reached out and touched the hood of the truck because he almost ran into the truck trying to run,” Louis Dizor said. He had just finished fueling up when he heard the gunfire and saw the commotion.

Dizor said the suspect got in his car and took off, rammed another vehicle, and stopped right next to him.

“He opened his driver’s door, popped out the empty clip, and threw in a new one and started laying fire across the field at the three young boys as they were running for their lives.”

Police said the subjects ran toward a carwash north of the Wawa where officers caught up with them for questioning. According to the report, they told detectives it was a botched robbery.

“Very worrying honestly, especially since this is so close to home,” Kaylan Crawford said. She lives in the area and drove by the scene Tuesday afternoon.

“It could’ve been a catastrophe,” Tamara Kerhoulas, another neighbor, said. “There were so many people out here. That parking lot is always packed. We’re always waiting in line to get to a gas pump. So to see that? That bothered me.”

The five subjects were all in their late teens to early twenties. One was arrested on a previous warrant and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. The suspected shooter is still on the run.
