Attendees of President Trump’s Jacksonville rally describe the experience

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — People stood shoulder to shoulder to see President Donald Trump at Cecil Airport on Thursday night.

“My hair stood up on my arms. I was so excited,” said Brenda Jones, an attendee.

The president arrived by Air Force One.

“Amazing! Like, I can’t even explain it. There’s no words,” Jones said.

The president took the stage to address an electric crowd.

Action News Jax spoke to several attendees who said they came from around the state of Florida to see Trump in Jacksonville.

“This is like the coolest thing I’ve ever been to,” said Hunter Barbree, an attendee.

They said they were there to support Trump’s reelection campaign.

“I’m just so amazed by all of his accomplishments,” said Jaime Alberto, an attendee from Orlando. “I mean, just take a look at what he’s done for the country. The economy, the jobs.”

Social distancing was limited. Masks were not required.

While most of the crowd did not wear them, many directly behind the podium were given masks before the president’s speech began and were asked to put them on.

Those we spoke to said they felt safe at the large outdoor gathering.

“Absolutely. I felt safe,” Jones said.

“I feel pretty safe,” Alberto said. “I do have a mask. But, you know, it’s outdoors. There’s breeze blowing. I feel pretty safe.”
