A planned Black Lives Matter protest brought out nearly 100 people to the intersection of Blanding Blvd. and Kingsley. One group began marching silently down Blanding, the other portion of the group stood on the corner.
On the opposite side of the road, about 10 demonstrators, who say they're supporting the Blue Lives Matter cause, stood with Trump campaign signs and American flags.
Action News Jax reporter Meghan Moriarty spoke with a man with the group. He said he organized the demonstration when he heard a Black Lives Matter protest was planned.

Semya Williams, a Black Lives Matter supporter, said “Black lives are not a threat. Black lives do matter. Black lives are important.” Williams said her grandmother was a part of the Civil Rights Movement and she says not much has changed since then.
