JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Public Schools have confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 at Abess Park Elementary School.
According to communication from DCPS, the Florida Department of Health and the school have performed contact tracing to identify individuals who have had close contact with the diagnosed person. Individuals who have had prolonged close contact have received a personal communication from the Florida Department of Health with further instructions to quarantine.
Those who have not received that communication were not impacted.

Good evening Abess Park families,
This is Principal Shore calling to let you know that, today we became aware of an individual who was on the school campus and who has now tested positive for COVID-19.
Working with the Department of Health, we have performed contact tracing to identify any individual who has had prolonged close contact with the person diagnosed. Individuals determined to have had prolonged close contact have received a personal communication from the Florida Department of Health with further instructions to quarantine.
If you have not received a personal communication, your child is not personally impacted by this situation.
Remember that the symptoms of COVID-19 include things such as fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea and other flu-like symptoms. If your child begins exhibiting these symptoms, please keep them home from school and call the school for further guidance. Also, if you have a member of your household who has tested positive or is exhibiting these symptoms, please keep your student home until it is determined that it is safe for your student to come to school.
