Cinotti’s Bakery faces backlash after owner makes anti-LGBTQ post on Instagram

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Cinotti’s Bakery is facing backlash after one of its owners, Doodle Cinotti, made a controversial post on her Instagram page.

The post reads: “Straight Pride: it’s natural, it’s worked for thousands of years, and you can make babies.”

The post was met with immediate backlash for being anti-LGBTQ.

The bakery has since issued an apology on social media.

“Our hearts are breaking,” the post reads. “We hope you will give us the opportunity to get to know the real us.”

Action News Jax has reached out and received the following statement from Stephen Gaskill, President of the Florida LGBTQ Democratic Caucus:

“These posts are tone-deaf and offensive. It’s unconscionable for Cinotti’s to post homophobic material and expect that the community will not be up in arms. While the vast majority of Floridians support LGBTQ equality, this situation illustrates that there is still work to do. Fortunately, the community has stepped up and forced the business to publicly recant the posts. The swift reaction underscores just how hurtful this whole episode has been to the LGBTQ community and the city.”

This is a developing story that will be updated once more information becomes available.
