Man killed in crash on I-10 WB at Chaffee Road, FHP says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was killed in a crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 10 westbound at Chaffee Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dennis James Walton, 68, was driving a 2018 Kia Soul in the right lane when the car veered to the left and struck the steel guardrail, the FHP said in a news release.

The Kia “was then directed to the right” and ended up off the road in the grass shoulder, the release said.

As the Kia continued along the grass shoulder, it struck a concrete drainage system.

Walton was pronounced dead at the scene.
