FHP pursuit ends with man in handcuffs outside Duval County Jail

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — What started as a Florida Highway Patrol pursuit ended with a man surrounded by police outside the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

FHP said the man ran from troopers after crashing his red truck into a fence and led troopers on a pursuit. FHP eventually backed off because they have an air unit.

Troopers say the suspect pretty much drove up to JSO and stopped on the East Forsyth Street side. He was arrested in the Duval County Jail parking lot and FHP walked him right into jail.

Action News Jax also got video of a man in FHP custody and asked him a few questions.

The man said he was not running from troopers. Action News Jax’s Bridgette Matter is still waiting on FHP to give information on where the pursuit started. We are also talking to Action News Jax law and safety expert Dale Carson about potential charges the man could face.
