Action News Jax Courtney Cole explains what you need to know about the paid parking lots and who will be spared from these news fees.

There are four parking lots in Jacksonville Beach that will now require you to pay for your stay.

  • 14 1st Street North (Latham Plaza)
  • 422 1st Street North
  • 503 1st Street North (Pier)
  • 450 2nd Street North

“Everybody wants to go to the beach on the weekends, that’s when nobody has work, and you know, you just wanna have a good time,” said Hannah Harvey.

But when everyone wants to have a good time on the same days, parking can become a challenge.

Harvey said having to pay for it can make matters even more complicated.

“You just want to have a good Saturday and Sunday and you have to worry about ‘am I going to be able to find a parking space?’ Or ‘how much is it going to cost me?’” Harvey explained.

According to the City of Jacksonville Beach:

You’ll have to pay $3.00 for the first two hours and $1.00 per hour for each additional hour, with a maximum of $7.00.

But on holidays and for special events, which include: Springing the Blues weekend, Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July weekend, Labor Day weekend, and Beaches Oktoberfest Weekend, according to the city’s website, you’ll pay a flat rate of $12.

Harvey said there could be a bright side to the parking fees.

“It keeps people probably thinking twice about parking at the beach, so it may open up some more parking spaces,” Harvey said.

It’s important to point out that cash is not accepted at the pay-to-park kiosks. You will have to pay with a credit or debit card; all major credit cards are accepted.

You can also use the “ParkMobile” or “Flowbird” parking apps.
