JSO arrest two men in connection to 2020 murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Andrew Joseph Rauco, 21, and 29-year-old Lavonta Dejuan Burrell have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of Elias Alhirsh.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday night the arrests of the two men.

Rauco and Burrell are accused of shooting Alhirsh on Feb. 26, 2020, at the Sugar Mill Apartments on Crown Point Road.

Police say that Alhirsh was visiting a friend at the apartment complex when two unknown men approached him and started fighting with him. JSO reports show that the two men then shot Alhirsh.

He was later pronounced dead.

Through investigation, police were able to identify Rauco and Burrell as suspects in Alhirsh’s death.

The two men have been booked in the Duval County jail for armed robbery and murder.
