JSO investigating multiple scams as the holiday season nears

JSO Scam Alert around holidays (Jacksonville Sheriff's Office)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says scams are popping up on multiple popular items as the holiday season nears.

Recently, there have been several instances of people being scammed out of hundreds of dollars from an online marketplace selling the PlayStation 5.

JSO offers these tips to avoid scams this holiday season:

  • Do not pay for items up front. Wait until you are in the presence of the seller and see the merchandise.
  • If it’s “too good to be true,” it probably is.
  • Remember: Safer Transaction! You can always meet at any JSO substation or downtown at the Police Memorial Building.

If you believe you have been scammed, call the Jacksonville nonemergency number at 904-630-0500.
