JSO: One shot dead inside a car in Jacksonville Heights

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said one man was shot and killed inside a car in the Jacksonville Heights neighborhood Saturday night.

The shooting happened just before 9:30 p.m. at the 5600 block of California Avenue, according to police.

Witnesses told JSO said they heard several gunshots. Police said the victim had at least one gunshot wound.

Investigators are canvassing the area for any other witnesses and working to identify the victim. JSO did not release any information regarding a suspect.

This was the fourth shooting JSO responded to on Saturday, Dec. 4.

According to Action News Jax’s records, this is the 339th shooting in Jacksonville in 2021.
