April is sexual assault awareness month and Naval Station Mayport is bringing awareness about it in the military.
Civilian victim for Naval Station Mayport, Ashley Carmichael, told Action News Jax that with the COVID-19 pandemic that more resources have become available for sexual assault victims.
I think with the pandemic there have been things that have been going on. I think we have brought more light to it. With the programs, we offer the numbers that we provide. So I would say that the numbers have gone down over the years.”
Naval Station Mayport offers a wide variety of resources for sailors. These resources can be found at almost every navy/military facility in the country.
