New Wine Bar opening in Historic Springfield despite pandemic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Coronavirus has affected local business owners throughout the pandemic, but it has not stopped some from opening new businesses.

A new swanky wine bar named The District is opening in Historic Springfield.

“It’s been a bar for 40-plus years but it was a dive bar.” Felicia Luke, co-owner of the bar said.

She is one of four owners who purchased the bar when it went on the market last year.

They’re hoping their Instagrammable spot will attract people from all parts of the city.

The pandemic has presented challenges new business owners might not otherwise face.

“We are running at 50% capacity, so we will have to manage that and limit that.”

For now, the menu is beer, wine, and small plates. A soft opening is scheduled for Thursday and an official opening is as early as Sunday.
