JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Exciting news for golfers and the Arlington community!

The Blue Cypress Golf Course is reopening this month after it was closed for improvements.

Visitors will see upgraded tees, greens, fairways and driving range. The irrigation system of the 9-hole, par 36 course, has also been improved to help maintain it.

The park originally was a 18-hole golf course but, because it’s located in an “environmentally sensitive” area, city officials said it was reduced to a 9-hole course.

Not interested in golf? Not a problem. The rest of the area is being used for outdoor recreation.

Families can take part in the course’s other amenities. It has a playground, community center, tennis courts, soccer fields, trails and picnic shelters.

The City of Jacksonville said there is also access to a fishing pier and boardwalk, where locals can soak in the beautiful views of the St. Johns River.

“As the District 1 Council Member, this is a game-changer for our community. Not only will we have golf back in Old Arlington, we will also usher in “The First Tee” golf program which can be a major deterrent to crime as we continue to build opportunities for children and their families,” Councilmember Joyce Morgan, said.

The park is located at 4012 University Boulevard North #5.
