Police: Business owner shoots burglary suspect in Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A burglary suspect was taken to a hospital after he was shot by a business owner in Jacksonville Beach early Monday morning, police said.

Officers with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department say they responded to 314 14th Ave. North just before 2:30 a.m. for a report of a burglary.

That address is of Atlantic Pro Divers, according to Google Maps.

Following an investigation, police revealed that the business owner shot the suspect, who then left the area.

The suspect, identified as Daiel Ifeanvi Nwobi, was later found and arrested about a block west of the business. He was a taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Nwobi is charged with burglary to a structure and criminal mischief, police said.

Gordy Rolison lives down the street from where this happened, he said the suspect was arrested in his yard.

“He was on the couch on the furniture over there just bleeding everywhere,” Rolison said.

Rolison said the suspect hid under pillows on a couch outside.

“He was hiding under all these and bleeding right there. So, it ended up being one of those things he was lucky there was beat up old cushions cause he was hiding under them.” Rolison said

Action News Jax called the shop to talk to the owner but he was not available.
