Police issue public safety alert for Jacksonville’s Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office issued a public safety alert due to ongoing investigations on Jacksonville’s Northside.

One incident led police to the area of Dunn Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard for burglary and attempted sexual assault battery.

A man, who appeared to be a black male, entered a home through an unsecured window and sexually battered the victim inside. The suspect then fled the area.

A series of incidents also occurred around the same area in the early morning.

Women were targeted by a young black male who ambushed them by hiding in dark corners around the 11000 block of Biscayne Boulevard.

The women fought the suspect off and no injuries were reported but the suspect fled.

Police do not know if the incidents are connected, however, they are urging residents to be aware of their surroundings by turning on outdoor lights and eliminating distractions like cell phones.

Residents should also lock and secure their doors and windows.

Patrols have been increased in the area as well.
