JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — The owner of a Jacksonville Beach jewelry store is cleaning up after a car plowed through the shop.
An 81-year-old driver slammed into Espling Jewelers on Marsh Landing Parkway near JTB on Monday, police said.
No one was hurt inside the store. The driver was also not injured.
The driver’s wife told Action News Jax that her husband must’ve hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
Police said the driver of the Mercedes was cited with careless driving.
The owner of the shop said it's going to be tough to recover from the crash. The crash also damaged the bathroom at Broudy's Liquors.

The owner of Espling Jewelers told Colburn that the store will open Tuesday, the day after a car crashed into the store.

The risk of injury/death in crashes increases w/ age (CDC). Should people 70 yrs & older have to get re-tested when renewing their license?
