JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jazmine Shelton, 13, and Megan Simmons, 14, were best friends -- inseparable the summer of 2013.
The two girls planned one last sleepover before school year at Jazmine’s mother’s home on Missouri Avenue in Northwest Jacksonville and fell asleep in the living room.
At 4:45 a.m., that morning someone reportedly banged on the door and then sprayed the home with dozens of bullets. Jazmine was killed instantly her body found by her own mother who heard the shooting from another room.
Megan was taken off life support a few days later.
At the time, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they believed the home was targeted. They received many tips, but have been unable to find evidence needed to put the person or people responsible behind bars.

Two years later, the girl’s families are joined by M.A.D.D.A.D.S. On Monday night, they walked through the community, knocked on doors, passed out flyers, reminded people about what happened and hope that someone who knows something will come forward.
JSO confirmed they are still actively working this case and say Investigators need the public’s help.
