Family of woman shot to death in Northside home speaks to Action News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For the second day in a row, police are collecting evidence from a home on Chestnut Drive on the Northside. This comes after two women were shot and killed inside their home Saturday, leaving a 2-year-old girl in the hospital.

Charnice Wilson was inside her home, when she was shot and killed Sunday morning.

Action News spoke with Wilson's aunt Nina Dowdy. Dowdy said she wishes this nightmare was a dream she could wake up from,

“I just really didn't want to believe it. I can’t believe my niece is gone,” said Dowdy.

Police say Dowdy's niece, Wilson, 23, and her roommate, Marquisha Phillips, 40, were inside Saturday when bullets ripped through the home, killing the two women and hitting Wilson’s 2-year old daughter.

“She didn't deserve this, her child didn't deserve this. I’m trying to figure out why they would just come by and do this,” said Dowdy.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office officers searched the home for two days. They also looked through a taxi cab parked in the driveway. JSO said the cab belongs to one of the women murdered who is believed to be a cab driver.

Police said the shooters ran to the train track in the back of the home.

Meanwhile, the family is making a plea for people with information to speak to police.

“Please come forward. We can't solve this case until you come forward,” said Dowdy.

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
