Family's rental car from JAX airport 'burst into flames'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Wisconsin family is counting its blessings tonight after its rental car caught fire in a local parking lot.

Action News crews were heading to another story when they saw the blaze at a Krystal's on Dunn Avenue.

Two army recruiters tried to put out the flames but were unsuccessful. Within minutes, firefighters arrived and finished the job.

The family involved had just flown in to enjoy spring break at the beach when things went wrong.

"When we pulled into the parking lot, we smelled a bad smell, like something was burning – and we turned the car off and it just burst into flames. And we're very grateful for the fire department," said Anita Cimijotti.

The family got the car from Dollar Rental at Jacksonville International Airport.
