If you haven’t finished your online shopping, you may be out of luck especially if you were thinking of making those last-minute Christmas purchases.
John Goyette ordered Christmas gifts online early in December to place under his tree.
He followed the tracking number given to him by FedEx but on the day it was supposed to be delivered, it never came.
“I was upset, I talked to someone. They said ‘Oh, I’m sorry we’re behind,’ and I asked, 'Can I go pick it up if you’re behind?” Goyette said.
He said that the person handling the phone call told him to come and get his package, so he drove 45 minutes to Orange Park from St. Johns County.
When he got to the FedEx Office, he was told by a manager that picking up his package would be impossible.
"They’re basically just holding it hostage at that point, especially if you can’t go pick it up," Goyette said.
Feeling frustrated, Goyette left and while understands the holiday rush, he doesn’t know why FedEx couldn’t at least give him a heads up about the delay.

"It’s the first time I've had a package where the tracking just says pending and pending… and then you call and they can’t give you an answer on when it’s going to come.
“FedEx admits they are behind when it comes to holiday shipping,” he said.
Action News Jax spoke with a FedEx worker off camera who told us the Jacksonville area is experiencing a huge surge of holiday deliveries.
He was sent in from Pensacola to help pick up some of the work and make sure these packages arrive on time.
New numbers show that since Thanksgiving, FedEx has an on-time delivery rate of about 68%, which is down from more than 77% a year ago.
When we asked about the delays, the company sent us a statement Monday saying:
“FedEx is experiencing some of the highest volume days in the history of our company, and our networks are flexing as designed to accommodate the surge of packages. We worked all year to prepare, and we are proud of our team members around the globe who are rapidly working to get packages delivered with a focus on ensuring holiday deliveries are made as soon as possible.”
Goyette said his package was eventually delivered, but it took five additional days.
