CALLAHAN, Fla. — UPDATE 7 p.m.: A 76-year-old Jacksonville man is dead after a three-vehicle crash on U.S.-1 and Charwood Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man was driving a sedan northbound on US-1 in the outside lane, when another sedan traveling directly ahead began to slow down to make a right turn. The man failed to slow down and began to swerve to the left to avoid the sedan ahead.
The front of the man’s sedan collided with the left rear of the sedan ahead of it, driven by a 49-year-old Jacksonville man.
After colliding, the 76-year-old’s sedan continued through the median and into the southbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a pickup truck.
The 76-year-old man died from the two collisions. The 49-year-old man and the driver of the pickup truck, a 70-year-old man from Hilliard, only received minor injuries.
The 76-year-old was not wearing a seat belt.
After the crash, all northbound and southbound lanes on US-1 at Charwood Drive were blocked. They have since reopened.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. All northbound and southbound lanes of traffic are blocked at Charwood Dr. near Church Rd.
