LAKE CITY, FL - Florida Highway Patrol received a call Sunday afternoon regarding a stolen vehicle that entered into Colombia County on Interstate 75 heading north.
The vehicle exited I-75 at mile marker 414 when troopers engaged in a routine traffic stop with the stolen vehicle which was a U-Haul van.
One of three people in the van fled on foot. The two other occupants were taken into custody without incident.
Troopers searched for Darlene York, the third occupant that fled the U-Haul van.
The troopers along with Colombia County deputies found the 43 year-old woman broke into a nearby apartment and assaulted the occupants.
York was arrested by FHP while the two other occupants were released.
FHP determined she never returned the rented U-Haul van. York is charged with third-degree battery, second-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, and third-degree fraud.
